Ambassador Ravindran Nair
Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs 


On 18 April, 2016, Ambassador Ravindran Nair was appointed as Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Fiji.

Ambassador Nair was born  in Lawaqa, in Nadroga. He went to University of Otago in New Zealand and the University of Sydney in NSW. After completing a law degree in NZ, Ambassador Nair returned to Fiji and worked as a litigation lawyer in the Crown Law Office, Suva, Fiji.

Ambassador has a colorful career as a lawyer, academic and a diplomat.

Ambassador Nair is married with one daughter. His wife Adela Nair was also an officer in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Canberra. 

Ambassador Nair’s father, the late Raman Nair was Fiji’s first High Commissioner to Australia and PNG.
