Roving Ambassador/High Commissioner
Her Excellency Litia Mawi is currently the Roving Ambassador/High Commissioner based at Headquarters (Suva) and is accredited to eleven (11) Pacific Islands States and is Special Envoy to the Regional Organizations under the Council of Regional Organizations in the Pacific (CROP). She took up office in April 2011.
H. E. Litia Mawi served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry for Women, Social Welfare and Housing and the Ministry of Local Government, Urban Development, Housing and Environment. Initially joining the Fiji Civil Service in 1972 as an Executive Cadet in the Public Service Commission, she served in various capacities in a number of Ministries and Departments including Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Education, Foreign Affairs, Health, Posts and Telecommunications, State Law Office and the longest for 15 years in the External Aid Unit and Budget Department of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development. As a Senior Executive, she served as Director of Management Improvement at the PSC, as Counselor at the Fiji Embassy in Tokyo and as Deputy Secretary for Foreign Affairs and External Trade and Deputy Secretary for Women, Social Welfare and Housing.
H. E. Litia Mawi returned to Fiji in March 2011, after serving for 12months as a United Nations International Volunteer in the Planning and Budget Department of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development in the Government of Tuvalu, based in Funafuti.
H. E. Litia Mawi graduated from the University of the South Pacific with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Economics and Public Administration and from the Australian National University with a Graduate Diploma in Development Administration. She attended the Royal Institute of Public Administration in London and the European Institute of Public Administration in Maastricht and is also an Executive Fellow of the ANZ School of Government.
