Fiji Benefits from Additional Cuban Scholarships

18th May, 2012: Fiji stands to benefit from two more medical scholarships offered by Cuba to the Fijian Government for the school year commencing September 2012.
This latest offer is in addition to the four scholarships granted earlier for Fijian students to study Bachelor of Surgery and Medicine (MBBS) in Cuba. The six selected will take the total number of students studying in Cuba to fourteen.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola is very pleased with the offer saying,
“This is testimony to the strong relationship we have with Cuba and we thank the Cuban Government for this gesture.”
Minister Kubuabola added that other areas of bilateral cooperation are now being explored in the context of Fiji’s growing relations with Cuba.
According to the Minister some of these issues have been discussed in recent ministerial meetings between the two countries the latest being at the margins of the meeting of the Non Aligned Movement (NAM) in Egypt.
