27th April, 2012, PNG: This morning, Fiji High Commissioner to PNG, HE Dr. Niumaia Tabunakawai handed over Flood Relief Supplies to the Chief Executive Officer of Air Niugini, Mr Wasantha Kamarasiri, at the Jackson's Airport Port Moresby.

Air Niugini offered to airlift Relief Supplies to Fiji free of charge. Mr Kamarasiri said this was the least Air Niugini could do to assist Fiji and its people recover from the recent disaster affecting the country.

The supplies consist of 27 cartons of clothes weighing approximately 500kg. These were collected through a two-weeks Flood Appeal in Port Moresby, coordinated by the Fiji High Commission.

High Commissioner Tabunakawai also expressed gratitude to Fijians in Port Moresby and especially to the people of Papua New Guinea who donated generously to make the appeal a success. The relief supplies is in addition to K61,000 previously collected, which will be forwarded to the Prime Minister's Flood Relief Account.

The supplies handed over today will be Fiji-bound on the Air Niugini flight PX084 arriving in Nadi on Sunday, 29th April.
