A Better Fiji through Excellence in Foreign Service
29th February, 2012: His Excellency Rock Wamytan, President of the Congress of New Caledonia, paid a courtesy call this morning to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola.
His Excellency Wamytan expressed his delight at the opportunity to visit Fiji to explore the possibility of establishing partnerships and bilateral arrangements in technical assistance, amongst other avenues.
“This is an ideal opportunity for us to visit Fiji to exchange ideas and establish avenues where we could explore mutually beneficial partnerships in the technical field and other areas,” said His Excellency.
In response, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola expressed his gratitude at the prospects of this visit and stated that Fiji is also keen in furthering its cordial bilateral relations with countries like New Caledonia, whose political developments are similar to Fiji.
The Minister also briefed His Excellency on Fiji’s political developments whose focus is a united and harmonious multi-racial Fiji. Moreover, the Minister stated that this visit would be a good opportunity to learn about Fiji’s “Roadmap for Democracy & Sustainable Socio-economic Development”.
During his short stay in Fiji, His Excellency Wamytan would visit flood-affected areas in Ba and Tavua.
His Excellency returns to New Caledonia on Saturday, February 3.
