Fiji’s High Commissioner to the Republic of South Africa, HE Mr. Beniamino Salacakau presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of South Africa, HE Mr Jacob Zuma in Pretoria, South Africa, this week. High Commissioner Salacakau joined 27 other Heads of Missions (HOM’s) based in South Africa in taking part in the ceremonial presentation of credentials to President Zuma.

President Jacob Zuma assured the diplomats that South Africa was keen to continue strengthening ties with all countries in the areas of socio economic development, trade and culture.

Mr Salacakau said he would focus on these areas as Fiji’s official representative to the Republic and “will now pursue work required of him vigorously”.

The completion of the presentation of credentials for each of the new 27 heads of missions will permit these diplomats to attend the opening of the ‘Parliament of South Africa’ in Cape Town on February 9.
