A Better Fiji through Excellence in Foreign Service
REMARKS BY HER EXCELLENCY LITIA GASAGASA MAWI, NON-RESIDENT HIGH COMMISSIONER OF THE REPUBLIC OF FIJI TO HIS EXCELLENCY HON SPRENT DABWIDO MP AND PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF NAURU ON THE OCASSION OF HER PRESENTATION OF CREDENTIALS ON 8TH DECEMBER 2011
It is indeed an honour and privilege for me to present to Your Excellency the Letters of Credence by which the President of the Republic of Fiji has accredited me as the non-resident High Commissioner of the Republic of Fiji to the Republic of Nauru.
In presenting these Letters, I also have the honour to convey the warm personal greetings and best wishes of my President, His Excellency Ratu Epeli Nailatikau to Your Excellency, and to the Government and People of the Republic of Nauru.
The Republic of Fiji and the Republic of Nauru have enjoyed close and friendly relations for many years. Our people inherited and still share many similarities in our languages, customs, cultures and lineages. These have been strengthened and reinforced over the last few decades through the mutual membership of our respective Governments in regional and international organizations that harness and consolidate the global advocacy of matters that are in the best interest of our people.
These interests stand to be expanded and enhanced even further as our two Governments continue to deliberately explore and creatively capitalize on newer modes of development cooperation that will provide our people with opportunities to productively engage and share solutions to the increasing challenges that are confronting them in a fast-changing world. We are confident, Your Excellency, that intensifying existing bilateral engagement and development cooperation partnerships will spontaneously induce strongerand more durable multilateral engagement amongst all our Pacific Governments, in collaboration with our private sectors, our civil societies and our communities. It is only in this way that we will be able to together nurture “A resilient Pacific community through self-reliance at all levels”.
It is now my privilege and indeed an honor to present to You Excellency, my Letters of Credence.
Vinaka Saka Vakalevu.
