New US Envoy Presents Credentials

US_ambassador_with_President14th October 2011, Suva: The new resident ambassador for the United States of America to Fiji presented her credentials to His Excellency the President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau at Government House this morning.

Ms Frankie Reed, who is also accredited to the Republic of Nauru, the Kingdom of Tonga, Tuvalu, and the Republic of Kiribati said she was honoured to take up this new post.

The new envoy comes with a lot of experience given her academic achievements as well as work history.

She is responsible for the bilateral relationships with the countries she will serve and collaborate with multilateral organizations, and promote regional public diplomacy activities, environmental programs and policies, the National Export Initiative, and defence-related relationships on a daily basis.

Ms Reed has a Juris Doctorate (JD) from the University of California, Berkeley and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Howard University.

A member of the California Bar Association, Ms Reed studied at the Kogod School of Business, American University, practiced Law, worked as a print journalist and spent two years as a Peace Corps volunteer prior to joining the Department of State.

Ms Reed replaces Ambassador Steven McGann whose term expired earlier this year.

After presenting her credentials Ambassador Reed called on the Minister for Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation Ratu Inoke Kubuabola at the Ministry HQ in Nasova.
