July 19 2011, Suva: The Peoples Republic of China's new Ambassador to Fiji, Mr Huang Yong presented his credentials to His Excellency the President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau at Government House this morning.

In presenting his credentials Ambassador Yong also presented the letter of recall for his predecessor Dr Han Zhiqiang.

When welcoming the new ambassador, Ratu Epeli said that he saw the good relationship between the two countries would be boosted.

The President said he hoped the new ambassador would be happy serving the interest of both nations, and in bringing the two 'friends' closer.

Mr Yong said he hoped that he would be able to continue from where Dr Han had left off.

Born in September 1959, Mr Yong joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an attaché in the Department of Asian Affairs in 1987.

Before coming to Fiji, Mr Yong held the post of Deputy Director General, General Office at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, China.

He has served in various global diplomatic missions for the Peoples Republic of China. This includes Brunei, Japan and Singapore.
