MINISTER KUBUABOLA MEETS KOREAN ENVOY

20th April 2011: Today the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation the Hon Ratu Inoke Kubuabola met the Korean Ambassador, H.E. Cheong Hae-Wook.  The two discussed areas of mutual interest between the two countries.

Ambassador Hae-Wook has just arrived to take up his new appointment in Fiji. Fiji’s Ambassador to Japan His Excellency Isikeli Mataitoga is accredited to Korea also.

The new resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea, Mr Cheong Hae-Wook presented his credentials to His Excellency the President Ratu EpeliNailatikau at Government House early this month.

A career diplomat, Mr Hae-Wook has a BA in International Relations from the Seoul University and a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University.Mr Hae-Wook has an extensive career in foreign affairs representing his country in different portfolios around the globe.He worked as Second Secretary in Korea’s Embassy in Oman before being deployed as First Secretary in Korea’s Embassy in the USA.Mr Hae-Wook has had several foreign postings including Consular at the Commonwealth Office in Australia, Minister Counsellor in Ireland and Ambassador to the Kingdom of Thailand. He has also served as the Ambassador for Asia and Pacific Economic Cooperation.
