Travel Advisory Against Non-Essential Travel To The North Eastern Parts Of Japan

Isikeli_Mataitoga

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation wish to advise against all non essential travel to the north eastern [Pacific Coast] parts of Japan given the damage caused by the 11 March earthquake and resulting aftershocks and tsunami. However, those considering to travel because of pressing commitments should register their location with the Fiji Embassy on arrival by email to This email address is being protected from spambots. The advice of keeping an 80km radius distance from the Fukushima Daichi Power Plant has been given by the US and UK to its nationals and this needs to be adhered to closely. We urge Fiji nationals to also observe the advice being given by Japanese authorities and take all precautionary measures to remain safe.

This advice does not apply to Hokkaido due to its significant distance north of Tokyo and the Central and Southern parts of Japan.  We will continue to review the situation.
