Botswana Receives Fijis Non Resident High Commissioner

26 August 2012; President Seretse Khama Ian Khama has accepted the accreditation of High Commissioner Salacakau.

Fiji’High Commisioner to South Africa, Beniamino Salacakau, formally presented his letters to the President Sretse Khama Ian Khama on Friday August 10th in Gabarone , the capital of Botswana. This is the first official representative for Fiji in Botswana.

In the meeting with the President and the Minister for Foreign Relations, High Commissioner Salacakau was able to update on Fijis political developments and Road Map to democracy.

President Khama showed a lot of understanding and offered any assistance that the country could provide.

The discussions also covered possible cooperation on many fields where the High Commissioner was able to broach the subject of a formal General Cooperation Agreement.

The President and Minister are now looking at the draft presented by the High Commissioner for further discussion and possible formal signing off later in the year.

High Commissioner Salacakau is looking at cementing this relationship and deepening cooperation in trade,  cultural and technical cooperation.   End.
