12th July 2012: The President of Israel, His Excellency Mr Shimon Peres thanked Fiji for its continuing support for Israel and conveyed that his country considered Fiji as a special friend in the Pacific. This message was conveyed to Fiji’s Ambassador to Israel, H.E Mr Solo Mara at a meeting at the President’s House in Jerusalem on Wednesday 11 June.

President Peres also conveyed his country’s best wishes for the constitutional reform process currently being undertaken in Fiji after being briefed by Ambassador Mara, who was in Israel to present his letter of credence formalising his appointment as Fiji’s Ambassador to Israel. Ambassador Mara highlighted in his brief that Fiji is currently embarking on a new development path focussed on improving the well-being of all the people of Fiji.
