DPRK Presents Credentials to PresidentDPRK Presents Credentials to President.

28th September 2012, Suva: His Excellency the President, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau this morning received the Credentials from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPK) Ambassador to Fiji, His Excellency Ri Jong Ryul.

The President welcomed the DPK’s efforts to widen and strengthen its diplomatic relations. Fiji had established diplomatic relations with the DPK since 1975.

Ambassador Ryul conveyed the well wishes of the DPK’s Leader Kim Jong Il that Fiji become successful with its efforts to re-build the country and work towards greater prosperity.

Ambassador Ryul said the DPK fully supports Fiji with its efforts which are clearly articulated in the Fiji People’s Charter for Change, Peace and Progress.

The President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau re-affirmed Fiji’s commitment to fully implementing the Charter, including returning the country to democratic governance. He said some of the activities in the Charter are ahead of schedule, and that Fiji is very optimistic about achieving its goals.

The President also conveyed his best wishes to the Leader , Government and people of the DPRK.

Ambassador Ryul said the DPRK would like to extend its relations beyond diplomacy and to include trade and a host of other areas.

The President Ratu Epeli and Ambassador Ryul agreed to further strengthen relations between the two countries.
