9th October 2012: Fiji’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea (ROK) H.E Filimone Kau on Friday 5th October presented his Letter of Credence to the Presidentof ROK, His Excellency Lee Myung-bak.
The presentation formalizes his appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary for ROK based in Seoul. As is customary, H.E Kau also presented the Letter of Recall of his predecessor, H.E IsikeliMataitoga who had been non-resident ambassador to ROK untilMrKau’s appointment.
In their brief conversation, President Lee expressed his appreciation to the Fijian Government in its confidence in the Government of ROK symbolized through the setting up of its mission in Korea and the appointment of its first resident ambassador.
“I’m confident that your posting to ROK will further enhance our already friendly relations and ROK is more than ready to assist the Embassy in its plans and programmes”, he said.
Ambassador Kau in response expressed deep gratitude to His Excellency President Lee saying the Fiji Government values its friendships with Korea as it hasimmensely benefitted from technical and developmental assistance provided by the ROK.
He also conveyed the well wishes from His Excellency the President, RatuEpeliNailatikau for the prosperity of the people of the Republic of Korea.
The Fiji Embassy in Seoul was opened by the Prime Minister on July 19th and H.E FilimoneKau is itsfirst Ambassador.
