The Fiji High Commission in Malaysia celebrated Fiji Day on Wednesday 10th October 2012 at the KDE Club in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In attendance were the members of the Diplomatic Corp, Business Community, Friends of Fiji and the Fijian Community.
The Honourable Dato’ Saravanan Murugan, Deputy Minister of the Federal Territories & Urban Well-Being, Malaysia was the Guest of Honour for the evening and proposed a toast for the good health and well being of the Government and People of Fiji. The Fiji High Commissioner, His Excellency Mr. Meli Bainimarama reciprocated with a toast. Subsequently, the evening witnessed a successful conclusion of a crucial event for Fiji in Malaysia, with the assistance and cooperation of the Fijian Community and Mission Staff in KL. As the delightful and beautiful evening unfolded, the guests were served and entertained with Fijian Entertainment (Cibi & Meke), Fijian Food (lovo), Fijian drink (Kava), and liquor.

The event concluded on a very high note with positive comments received from the guests. Fiji’s 2012 National Day celebration was marked as “the best” National Day held in Malaysia by Members of the Diplomatic Mission who were present that evening. The flow and achievement of the event in itself portrayed a positive image for Fiji ranking Fiji as one of the top Mission in Malaysia. It can be proudly stated that Fiji though small in size has placed long term relations and mark in the hearts of guests present at the 2012 Fiji Day celebration in Malaysia.
