Ms Rejieli Taylor, the Acting Director for Town and Country Planning of the Ministry of Urban Develop¬ment, Housing, Local Government and Environment on Friday 19 October, 2012 completed a week-long study visit of sister Ministries and Agencies of Singapore and Jakarta. The visit was jointly organised by her Ministry and the Fiji Mission in Jakarta in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore and the Directorate for Spatial Planning of the Ministry of Public Works of Indonesia. In Singapore Ms Taylor had fruitful exchanges with the Singapore Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), the Civil Service College (CSC) and the Center for Liveable Studies. With the Directorate for Spatial Planning in Jakarta, Ms Taylor was able to identify specific areas for co¬operation in human resources development, capacity building in urban and regional planning including in green city development. A way forward was also mapped out for the Ministries including the drafting of an MOU to formalise their cooperation. Acting Director Taylor expressed her gratitude to her Ministry, the Fiji Mission in Jakarta and the Singa¬pore and Indonesia authorities for the opportunity accrded her to broaden her horizion. She was espe¬cially pleased with the agreements reached with her counterparts on the way forward for cooperation which will greatly assist her Ministry.
