11th November 2012: Fiji’s first diplomatic representative to the United Arab Emirates H.E Ambassador Ravindran Robin Nair presented his credentials to the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Sunday 11th November, 2012 at the Mushrif Palace in Abu Dhabi.
In his statement to His Highness, Ambassador Nair conveyed the greetings from His Excellency and President of the Republic of Fiji, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau to the Government and people of the United Arab Emirates, adding that as a developing island nation in the Pacific Region, our diplomatic presence in the UAE would benefit Fiji in many ways, including through greater economic and technical cooperation and advancement.
His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan in welcoming Ambassador Nair said that memories of his first visit to Fiji many years ago have always remained special to him and that he was grateful that the two countries have now been able to establish and reaffirm its diplomatic relations.
His Highness further reiterated the desire of the UAE to extend bridges of friendship and cooperation between the two nations and to further build balanced relations, highlighting the UAE's constant endeavour to develop economic, cultural and tourism relations with Fiji.
Ambassador Nair was accompanied by Deputy Head of Mission Mr Emosi Rakai and Embassy staff Mr Kelepi Abariga.
