6th December 2012, Jakarta: The Women’s International Club (WIC), an association of local and Diplomatic wives based in Jakarta held its 45th Annual Charity Bazaar on 05- 06 December 2012 at the Jakarta Convention Center. First Lady Ibu Hj. Ani Bambang Yudhoyono, as President of WIC,officially opened the bazaar and expressed her sincere appreciation toallparticipating Embassies,the business communiy and the invited guests for their support for the underpriviledged in Indonesia. Proceeds from the bazzar will be directed to the needy of Malukku Province located in Eastern Indonesia.
The Fiji Embassy in Jakarta, led by Madam Josivini Cavuilati, participated for the first time. They were joined by family members and the few students and friends of Fiji. A highlight for the Fiji booth was the purchase by the First Lady Ibu Hj. Bambang Yudhoyono of a piece of ‘Masi’ which she will be framing. Fijian artefacts, Bula shirts and ‘masi’ and ‘tapa’-designed household products were on sale including Pure Fiji products and other accessories on display.
The bazaar was aslo a perfect platform for promotion and marketing in line with the Fiji Mission’s Economic and Cultural Diplomacy. Hundreds of pamphlets and tourism brochures were distributed. The small Fijian group also performed a total of four ‘mekes’ that including the lively “Raude” rendition which proved a hit for the hundreds of Indonesians and members of the Diplomatic community that visited the bazaar.
The Fiji Mission is grateful to be participating in such a worthy cause for the people of Indonesia.
