The Government of the Republic of Timor Leste has provided the Fijian Government with $400,000 for the establishment of the Pacific Islands Development Forum Secretariat.

In accepting the donation, Fiji’s Foreign Affiars Minister, RatuInoke Kubuabola stated, “We greatefully acknowledge the generous assistance and financial support provided to the Pacific Island Development Forum by the Government and the people of Timor Leste.

Minister Kubuabola further stated that “the support received will go a long way in helping the PIDF provide the people of the Pacific with the services that has been sorely lacking in the Pacific at present”.

Kubuabola says the Forum is now available to the people of the Pacific for the first time where their public sector, private sector or civil society representatives can meet freely and discuss openly issues of development that are relevant and important to them.
