Ambassador Nair Presents Credentials to Republic of Kazakhstan

Fiji achieved another milestone in its International Relations, when Fiji’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, His Excellency Robin Nair, presented his credentials as Fiji’s non- resident Ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan on the 27th of November 2013. H.E. Nair presented his credentials to Marat Tahzin, Secretary of State of Kazakhstan at the Ak Orda Presidential Palace located in the country’s capital, Astana.

In his meeting with the Secretary of State, Ambassador Nair conveyed to him and the Government of Kazakhstan greetings from the President of the Republic of Fiji, H.E. Ratu Epeli Nailatikau.

In his statement H.E. Nair stated that, “Fiji’s presence in Central Asia, and in particular Kazakhstan, was most important in furthering Fiji’s diplomatic relations by advancing its bilateral and multilateral relations with the country and the region.”

Ambassador Nair also acknowledged the strength of the Kazakhstan economy, particularly its success in the Oil, Gas and Mining Industries.

In welcoming Ambassador Nair Mr. Tahzin said, ““Geography will re-organize itself once the political will is strong to establish genuine bilateral relations. Fiji has now become close to Kazakhstan and its people today as I welcome Fiji’s first Ambassador to my country”.

The Secretary of State acknowledged Fiji’s successful experiences in developing its tourism potentials, and has requested that collaboration be established between the two Governments wherein Kazakhstan intends to send representatives from their Tourism Authority to observe the development of tourism and tourism marketing in Fiji.

Ambassador Nair also met with the Under- Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He briefed the Under-Secretary on the development of Pacific Islands Development Forum (PIDF). The Under Secretary asked for Kazakhstan to be invited as an observer for the second meeting of PIDF.

Aliki Salusalu, the Fiji Embassy Counselor accompanied Ambassador Nair on this historic occasion as Fiji continues to make its international standing stronger and brighter.

Kazakhstan like Fiji is also a member of Asia Pacific group at the United Nations.
