FNU wins ECCAM Bid

Fiji National University (FNU) has won an international bid to implement a new project called Education for Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation (ECCAM)

The funding for this program is being furnished by the European Union within the Intra- ACP (African, Caribbean and Pacific Countries) academic mobility scheme.

Strategically the programs is intended to promote sustainable development and poverty alleviation by increasing the availability of trained and qualified high level professional manpower in the Caribbean and Pacific countries.

The Acting Vice Chancellor of FNU, Dr. Kandasamy Anganmuthu says, “they hope to address Fiji’s human resource needs which is one of the key objectives for the existence of the university.

The head of the European Union in the Pacific, Andrew Jacobs, says it wants more students from the Pacific to participate in its educational programs.

The European Union has provided FNU with a grant of $ 3,990,000 for the project.
