The President of the Federal Council congratulated Ambassador Khan for the establishment of the Mission.

Mr Burkhalter who is Switzerland's Minister for Foreign Affairs congratulated Fiji for having successfully held democratic elections, and for Fiji’s successful Universal Periodic Review at the Human Rights Council.

During their discussions, they spoke of cooperation in the area of climate change, an area of mutual concern.

Like Switzerland, Fiji has adopted an integrated approach and plan to address climate change and disaster risk management, both of which are topical issues with upcoming international conferences, which will require focused action by the international community. They also discussed further bilateral engagement, now facilitated by Fiji’s presence in Switzerland.
