A Better Fiji through Excellence in Foreign Service
Fiji featured prominently at a recent trade fair held in the city of Busan in South Korea.
This follows the converging of thousands of Koreans into the Fiji booth at the 18th International Travel Fair in Busan over the weekend seeking firsthand information on what Fiji has to offer them.
The fair organized by the Korea World Travel Fair (KOTFA) in Busan, South Korea attracted thousands of people over the weekend.
Fiji’s Honorary Consul in Busan Mr. Ho Young Yeom said that Fiji’s colorful and vibrant booth complimented by attendants who were Fijian students studying in Busan and spoke fluent Korean was a plus.
“I am very happy to be part of the Fiji team here and have been impressed with the presentation by the Fiji students manning the booth. They speak fluent Korean and those passing through here have been able to receive first-hand information from Fijians themselves about all that Fiji has to offer. The locals themselves have been very impressed,” he said.
The fair held twice every year involves representatives from over 60 countries and more than 400 tourism-related firms. Fiji is represented by the Fiji Embassy in Korea and Fijian studying in Busan.
University student Sunia Loga said visitors to the booth sought information about Fiji’s tourism industry and opportunities for students to study English adding Fiji as a honeymoon destination was also high on the agenda of many young couples.
“We’ve been very busy and I am just happy to be able to help the embassy and promote Fiji as the way the world should be to enthusiastic Koreans who have been coming here these last few days,” Mr Loga said.
According to the organizers, over 600,000 people are expected to pass through the fair which ends on September 14.
