The United Nations Development Project Deputy Assistant Administrator and Deputy Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific, Mr. Nicholas Rosellini paid a courtesy visit to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Ratu Inoke Kubuabola in Suva today.
Mr. Rosellini was very pleased with the UNDP’s partnership with Fiji through their regional office located in Suva which supports nine other Pacific Island nations.
Mr. Rosellini expressed his desire to work together with Fiji in fostering a strong partnership in addressing the issue of Climate Change and its impact on the Pacific. Mr. Rosellini also used the opportunity to congratulate Fiji on the successful hosting of the Pacific Islands Development Forum which was recently held in Suva.
The Hon. Minister Kubuabola also thanked Mr. Rosellini for UNDP’s continued support to Fiji. The Hon. Minister Kubuabola also updated Mr. Rosellini on the recent climate change summit held in Levuka and updated Mr. Rosellini on Fiji’s progress towards finalizing Fiji’s Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC’s) prior to the upcoming 21ST Annual Conference of Parties (COP 21), taking place this year on 7-8 December in Paris.
Mr. Rosellini was accompanied by Ms. Osnat Lubrani, the United Nations Resident Coordinator and United Nations Development Programme Resident Representative.
