AMBASSADOR KAU PRESENTS CREDENTIALS AS FIJI’S ENVOY TO LAOS

February 18, 2016- Fiji’s Ambassador to Korea Filimone Kau has presented his credentials as Fiji's non-resident Ambassador to the Lao People's Democratic Republic.

Ambassdor Kau presented his credentials to the President of Laos H.E Choummaly Sayasone of Laos. President Choummaly welcomed Fiji’s representative and said that he highly values the diplomatic relations between Laos and Fiji after the two countries established diplomatic relations on August 27, 2010. He noted the two countries have been cooperating at the international political level particularly at the United Nations and hoped that this ambassadorial appointment would further enhance cooperation in other areas.

Ambassador Kau assured President Choummaly that he would do his utmost best to strengthen the relations and cooperation between Fiji and Laos.

He also met with Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Mrs Khaphao Ernthavanh, Director General of Asia and Pacific and Africa Mr Viroth Soundara and Director General of Protocol Mr Seng Soukhathivong.

His accreditation to Laos is in line with Fiji’s foreign policy to strengthen its relations with countries in South East Asia, particularly with members of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN). Laos is currently the chair of the ASEAN.
