Minister Kubuabola has called on the members of his ministry to work closely with Ambassador Nair.
He urged his officers to rally behind Ambassador Nair during his transition stage to ensure he settled in well in his new role.
He said Ambassador Nair brought with him a wealth of experience that would benefit the ministry especially at an important time of civil service reforms and the aftermath of Tropical Cyclone Winston.
Ambassador Nair is no stranger to the ministry having served for a number of years at various levels, with his most recent posting as Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates.
Minister Kubuabola said he was situated in an important and strategic region and made significant inroads for Fiji in a very vibrant and diverse region.
Now he wears a different cap in terms of having an even greater consolidated task in driving the ministry and government agenda forward.
Ambassador Nair interpreted his role as taking the ministry through the Government's reform of the civil service.
In relation to civil service reforms, he shared that the new Permanent Secretaries have been briefed of what the Government want.
Ambassador Nair said he would begin with few urgent but minor administrative and management changes.
He thanked Deputy Secretary Esala Nayasi for holding the fort for the past 16 months.
