FIJI AND TONGA ASPIRE TO STRENGTHEN THE BILATERAL RELATIONS

Fiji is looking forward to further building its relationship with Niue to advance new opportunities for collaboration.
This was articulated in a bilateral meeting between Fiji’s Prime Minister Honourable Sitiveni Rabuka and the Premier of Niue Honourable Dalton Tagelagi.
The meeting was held on the margins of the Pacific Islands Forum Special Leaders Meeting at Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort in Nadi.
The Prime Minister said that there are opportunities that we can pursue together across various sectors that will fulfil our respective development aspirations.
He added that our bilateral relations will be strengthened further through the formalisation of our diplomatic relations.
Prime Minister Rabuka, at the same time thanked Honourable Tagelagi for his support to Fiji’s chairmanship of the Forum.
On regional cooperation, he said that Fiji looks forward to working with Niue to implement our collective vision and priorities in the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent.
Honourable Tagelagi, during the meeting, thanked Prime Minister Rabuka for the opportunity to meet and discuss areas of cooperation.
He also congratulated Prime Minister Rabuka for his leadership and efforts in uniting the Pacific Forum “Vuvale”.
