The Fiji Government delegation led by the President, His Excellency, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, today presented its i-reguregu in honor of the late High Commissioner of Fiji to Papua New Guinea, Brigadier-General (Ret’d) Mosese Tikoitoga at his residence at 185 Malolo Place, Pacific Harbour.
In a solemn ceremony, the delegation accorded their respect and tribute to the late High Commissioner Tikoitoga, expressing heartfelt sympathies and prayers to his family and friends.
The Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka, Deputy Prime Minister, Hon Manoa Kamikamica, Minister for iTaukei Affairs, Hon Ifereimi Vasu, Minister for Labour and Employment, Hon Agni Deo Singh, Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon Lenora Qereqeretabua, and representatives of the Ministries of iTaukei Affairs and Foreign Affairs staff also attended the i-reguregu.
The delegation made special mention of the dedication and outstanding contribution of the late High Commissioner, in advancing Fiji’s relations with Papua New Guinea and the Pacific in recent times, and to Africa and the Middle East region during earlier tenures.
The late High Commissioner Tikoitoga was a decorated military officer, having served 32 years in the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF). He rose through the ranks of the officer corps where he served in many roles in Fiji and abroad, and penultimately, as Commander of the RFMF.
In thanksgiving and celebration of a life of public service, and of a distinguished diplomat, soldier, leader, father and husband, a memorial service will be held at the Makosoi Methodist Church in Pacific Harbour at 10 am on Friday 12 January 2024, after which he will be laid to rest at the Pacific Harbour Cemetery.
