His Excellency the President Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konrote received the credentials of the new Resident Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Fiji, His Excellency Young-kyu Park at the State House.
Mr Park was Minister of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Abu Dhabi before his current appointment.
He was also the Consul-General at the Erbil Office of the Korean Embassy in the Republic of Iraq in 2016 and has been sent on Secondment to the Presidential Committee for Unification Preparation in 2014.
The Ambassador received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Studies at Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea, in 1993 and a Master of Arts in International Economics at Johns Hopkins University in the United States of America in 1999.
Fiji and Korea have continued to share friendly relations and bilateral cooperation since the formalization of the Fiji and Korea diplomatic relations in 1971.
