Fijian Prime Minister Honourable Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama conveyed a congratulatory message to the New Zealand Prime Minister, The Right Honourable Jacinda Ardern on the occasion of the 181st anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi.
In a congratulatory letter conveyed to his counterpart, Prime Minister Bainimarama said the commemoration of this symbolic event represents New Zealand’s commitment towards the principles, values and aspirations that the two countries share.
Prime Minister Bainimarama said the strength of Fiji and New Zealand’s bilateral relations has been increasingly evident during these unprecedented times in which the need for deeper cooperation and partnership is even more important.
In commending New Zealand’s support to Fiji, Prime Minister Bainimarama conveyed the Fijian Government’s appreciation to the Government of New Zealand for the timely support and assistance rendered to Fiji in its rebuilding and recovery efforts from COVID-19 and TC Yasa.
Fiji conveyed its well wishes for continued progress, peace and prosperity for the people of New Zealand on the occasion of Waitangi Day.
