The eight new diplomats who will be taking up their new positions in Fiji’s foreign missions were bid farewell by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the Ministry’s headquarters in Suva today. They were also briefed by the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Mr Ioane Naivalurua on the expectations of their new roles.
Mr Naivalurua emphasised that being a diplomat requires great commitment and dedication to be able to serve at the best of their abilities.
He reiterated that good diplomacy will lead to stronger bilateral ties between Fiji and the global communities and unfold new opportunities for strengthened socioeconomic collaboration with international countries. The diplomats were reminded to practice the values of hospitality, courtesy, graciousness to serve in the best interests of Fiji.
Mr Naivalurua also conveyed his best wishes to the new diplomats and assured them of the Ministry’s support in their endeavour to advance the development of Fiji through the work of foreign missions. He said they are blessed to be chosen to represent Fiji as such they should aspire to excel in their achievements.

- Mr Paulo Daurewa, First Secretary for Papua New Guinea
- Mr Vueti May, First Secretary for Geneva, Switzerland
- Ms Ashwini S Lata, First Secretary for New Delhi, India
- Ms Farisha Ali, First Secretary for Tokyo, Japan
- Mr Sanaila Laqai, First Secretary for Beijing, China
- Mr Elia Sevutia, Second Secretary for New Delhi, India
- Mr Ashneel Shankar, Second Secretary for Tokyo, Japan
