<p>The 42 Fijians living in Indonesia are safe after a tsunami on last Saturday reportedly killed more than 222 people, injured 843 while 28 are reported missing and more than 550 homes have been damaged.

The Fiji Embassy in Indonesia through the Fiji’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that no Fijians were affected by the tsunami that hit the several areas of the Sunda Strait including beaches in Pandeglang regency, Serang and South Lampung.

The Embassy has been in touch with the Fiji nationals to offer advices in terms of their safety and continued to monitor the situation closely. </p><p>
It is believed that this tsunami is one of the most devastating disasters to hit Indonesia and it could have been caused by an undersea landslide that was set off by volcanic activity on the island of Anak Krakatau.</p>
