Fiji’s Minister for Defence, National Security and Foreign Affairs, Hon. Inia Seruiratu received a courtesy call from the Regional Representative of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in the Pacific, Dr Chitralekha Massey, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Suva last week.
Minister Seruiratu welcomed Dr Massey and reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment to strengthen collaboration with OHCHR in advancing Fiji’s human rights development initiatives and programs in Fiji.
Dr Chitra congratulated Minister Seruiratu for his recent appointment as the Minister for Foreign Affairs and she also acknowledged Fiji’s continued engagement both regionally and internationally to enhance human rights advocacy.
She also commended Fiji’s for its recognition and representation as the member of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) to advance human rights protection.
As such OHCHR has pledged greater support for Fiji’s historic journey and commitment as the member of the United Nations Human Rights Council.
