The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is deeply concerned at the level of disinformation directed at some of our missions overseas, and wishes to assure the people of Fiji that the information propagated by the blogger is false and misleading.
The deployment of Fiji’s diplomats abroad are undertaken in accordance with the Public Service (Diplomatic and Consular Services) Regulations 2006. This covers the travel costs and accommodation for the family (which includes spouse, children and domestic assistant) of the assigned Heads of Mission.
In the case cited by the blogger, travel and diplomatic passport were paid and arranged for the Head of Mission only.
The Ministry expresses the hope that the privacy of our diplomats serving Fiji abroad will be respected as they are there to advance our national interests internationally.
