Prime Minister Rabuka Meets with the Ambassador of the Federated States of Micronesia

Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka met with a delegation from the Republic of Kosovo led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Mr. Kreshnik Ahmeti, during his first official visit to Fiji and the Pacific region.
The meeting discussed key elements of the relationship and opportunities to strengthen cooperation.
The visit coincides with the commemoration of the 11 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations. Kosovo is accredited to Fiji through its Diplomatic Mission based in Canberra, Australia.
Prime Minister Rabuka acknowledged Minister Ahmeti and his delegation for their interest in exploring new prospects for cooperation.
During this visit, the delegation is looking at ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation especially in climate change, peacekeeping, diaspora engagement, diplomacy, education and sports to mention a few.
In this regard, the delegation conveyed the Kosovo Government’s interest to establish the Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) with focus on the Consultations and Dialogue, and Policing. Consultations on the MoU is ongoing which considers certain areas and its anticipated benefits to both countries.
In his remarks, Ambassador Ahmeti thanked Prime Minister Rabuka for the opportunity to consider the way forward to advancing relations between the two countries.
He also appreciated the warm hospitality accorded to him and his delegation and the positive deliberations they have had.
Minister Ahmeti is being accompanied by the non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to Fiji, H.E. Jetmira Berdynaj-Shala.
The Kosovo Mission in Canberra, Australia will work closely with Fiji’s High Commission there to progress issues discussed.
