In the first of such initiatives to enhance its digital platforms, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today launched a total of thirteen (13) websites at once, which includes one (1) primary website for the Ministry and twelve (12) Mission websites, all rebranded and highly interactive and informative, particularly designed with the users’ perspective in mind.
While launching the rebranded websites, the Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs Hon. Lenora Qereqeretabua said through this initiative the Ministry, aims to provide more efficient and effective service delivery and enable real-time connection between the Fiji Missions abroad and its customers.
Hon. Qereqeretabua said the revamped website signifies the Ministry’s commitment to using digital tools to advance Fiji’s diplomatic footprint, by providing updated and timely information on Fiji’s multilateral and bilateral engagements, with focus on yielding return on investment and economic development for Fiji.
Hon. Qereqeretabua stated that a dynamic feature of the new website is the introduction of the “Fijian Diaspora Registration Portal’, which will enable Fijians living abroad to register with the Ministry.
It was highlighted that the first of such Portals will enable the Ministry to consolidate important data and analysis that will inform critical components of policy decisions and interventions required particularly when reaching out to our Fijian diaspora during times of crisis and emergencies.
Hon. Qereqeretabua said that the new website will be a one stop shop for disseminating information on the important initiatives undertaken by the Ministry, including the development of Fiji’s first-ever:
Foreign Policy White Paper;
Prime Minister Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka’s concept that the Pacific is an Ocean of Peace; and
Fiji’s Institute of Diplomacy
Fijians residing in any part of the world will be now able to access ‘Citizens Connect and Consular Services’, this includes applying for passport renewal and passport bookings.
With the enhanced features of the website, Fijian citizens around the world will now be able to contact their nearest Mission and Make Appointments with the Mission staff for any assistance or consultations. Now made possible through the revamped website, diaspora members will also be able to track recent updates and advisories from the Fiji Missions.
Another noteworthy feature of the new website, is that the Ministry will not only able to inform of its services but also receive ‘feedback’ from service recipients, providing them the opportunity to share their views and thoughts on how the Ministry can further enhance its services.
The Fiji Missions website launched today includes Fiji’s two (2) Permanent Missions in New York and Geneva, five (5) High Commissions comprising Missions in Canberra, Australia; Wellington, New Zealand, London; United Kingdom; New Delhi, India; Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea; and five (5) Embassies in Jakarta, Indonesia; Tokyo, Japan; Washington D.C; United States; Beijing, People’s Republic of China; and Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
With just a click of a button, Fijians will be able to access and appreciate the work of the Ministry and that of Fiji’s Missions abroad.
