Fiji’s Correctional psychologist, Aisea Rainima who hails from Navolau No. 1 in Ra has graduated with a Master of Science degree in Social Psychology from the Universitas Indonesia in Jakarta, Republic of Indonesia.
During his two years’ of study at the Faculty of Psychology on the Depok Campus, Aisea developed his research skills and deepened his understanding of social psychology. His untiring efforts culminated in his graduation. Ambassador Amena Yauvoli of the Fiji Embassy in Jakarta joined the University community, families, friends and the thousands of students in celebrating their academic achievements at Universitas Indonesia’s graduation ceremony on Sunday, 25 August 2024.
With his newly acquired skills in social psychology and his improved research capabilities, Aisea returns to Fiji and will continue to contribute to enhancing the services provided by the Fiji Corrections Service and in national development.
His focus will be on the development of more effective rehabilitation programs and on using research-based approaches to measure the outcomes of such programs for incarcerated individuals.
In congratulating Aisea on his academic achievement, Ambassador Yauvoli highlighted that international student mobility in higher education and capacity building is among the work priorities of the Fiji Embassy in Jakarta.
This initiative helps further people to people links and better cross-cultural understanding that builds understanding and trust among countries, and the Mission will always stand ready to support Fijians students.
This year, Fiji and Indonesia mark 50 years of strong and enduring bilateral relations which is on an upward trajectory supported by a dedicated bipartisan commitment to reinforcing bilateral cooperation at all levels.
Ambassador Yauvoli and the Fiji Embassy team in Jakarta celebrated Aisea’s academic milestone and farewelled him at Fiji House last week and wished him well in his career at the Fiji Corrections Service.
