Head of State Commissions Fiji’s High Commissioner Designate to the Independent state of Papua New Guinea

The mission is led by Hon. Hu’akavameiliku Siaosi Sovaleni, Forum Chair and Tonga Prime Minister; who is joined by fellow leaders, Hon. Mark Brown, Cook Islands Prime Minister; and Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka, Fiji Prime Minister. They are also joined by Hon. Peter-Shanel Agovaka, Solomon Islands Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade.
Upon arrival, the leaders were taken to areas around Noumea that were badly destroyed following recent unrests – these included a public hospital and a commercial centre.
The leaders also met with High Commissioner of the Republic of France to New Caledonia, H.E. Louis Le Franc; President and members of the Customary Senate and President of Congress – to hear their thoughts on the current situation as well as gauge their views on a way forward for #newcaledonia
