The Fiji Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) congratulates and conveys best wishes to the cohort of four staff, who are currently in Wellington, New Zealand, participating in the third cohort of the Pacific Diplomatic Training Programme from Monday 18th November to Friday 6th December 2024.
Fiji is among other Pacific Island nations who have been accorded this opportunity to undertake a total of 5-week block introductory level course on diplomacy for foreign services in the Pacific.
The training is sponsored by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) through its Manaaki Scholarships scheme, and managed by Education New Zealand (ENZ).
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is ably represented at the third cohort by Mrs. Rhoda Banner, Mr. Edwin Naidu, Ms. Vilimaina Nakalevu and Mr Luke Letewale.
This dynamic training initiative aims to help build capacity in the Pacific Foreign Services by applying the practitioner-led approach. It focuses on applied diplomacy skills and knowledge. It is designed for foreign-service officers working in the Pacific regional and international diplomacy.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is grateful to the New Zealand Government for the continued opportunity provided through this training to develop diplomatic tradecraft in the Pacific and ultimately advance bilateral and multilateral cooperation within and beyond our region.
The Programme is developed and managed by Wellington Uni-Professional (WUPL) of Victoria University of Wellington, which provides professional development training.
It further focuses on the foreign policy development and the Pacific regional architecture with initiatives supported by the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) under the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent.
