Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka met with the staff of the Fiji Mission to the United States of America in Washington today, expressing his gratitude for their dedication and service in effectively representing Fiji in the “Land of the Free”.
While addressing the staff, PM Rabuka reinforced Fiji’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with the United States of America.
Led by Fiji’s Ambassador to the U.S., His Excellency Mr Ilisoni Vuidreketi, the Fiji Embassy in Washington plays an important role in promoting our nation’s foreign policy, trade relations, consular services and regional cooperation, among other important initiatives.
Given the important role of the Embassy, PM Rabuka noted that the office needs to be strengthened to further enhance its global presence and maintain an active voice in international forums.
The PM also took the opportunity to reaffirm the government’s ongoing support for its diplomatic staff, ensuring they have the resources and assistance needed to carry out their roles well.
Ambassador Vuidreketi is supported by First Secretary Ms Eva Baleitilagica, Second Secretary Mr Edwin Pratap, Consular Officer Mr Aporosa Babakobau and Executive Officer Ms Asena Tunisau.
