Fiji’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Ambassador Naipote Katonitabua, presented his letters of credentials as the non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of Fiji to the State of Qatar to His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar.
Ambassador Katonitabua expressed the best wishes and greetings from the President of Fiji, His Excellency Ratu Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere and the people of Fiji for the good health and wellbeing of His Highness the Emir of the State of Qatar and prosperity of the people of Qatar.
In receiving the letters of credence, His Highness Emir Al Thani stressed the importance of enhancing the 12 years bilateral relations between with the two countries in recognition of Fiji’s pivotal role in the Pacific region.
His Highness Emir Al Thami also recognized Fiji being one of tourist destination to the Qatar Royal family and the people-to-people relationship and exchanges will certainly establish stronger bilateral relations and cooperation in areas such as tourism, investment and trade, climate change initiatives and human development. Ambassador Katonitabua reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment to elevate the bilateral relations between Fiji and Qatar to another level for the betterment for both nations.
Ambassador Katonitabua was accompanied by his spouse Mrs Tamarisi Katonitabua in the noble ceremony. After the presentation of credentials, Ambassador Katonitabua met with Qatar Ministries and relevant authorities including the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Commerce, Labour, Qatar Civil Aviation Authority, Qatar Fund for Development and Qatar Investment Authority.
