Engagement of honorary consuls in diplomatic function

Fiji’s Ambassador of the Republic of Fiji to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) His Excellency Siddiq Faizal Riyad Koya presented his credentials to the President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The ceremony held at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi was also attended by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court.
UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed welcomed Ambassador Koya and other newly appointed envoys from various countries and wished them success in strengthening the diplomatic relations and cooperation between the UAE and their respective countries. He further assured them of the full support of the UAE authorities to facilitate their work and ensure their missions operate smoothly.
His Highness reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to fostering relations with nations worldwide, based on mutual respect and collaboration for the benefit of all.
Ambassador Koya conveyed the best wishes of the President of the Republic of Fiji, His Excellency Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu and the people of Fiji to UAE President and the people of UAE for their continued success and prosperity.
UAE is an important development partner for Fiji, with cooperation in key areas such as trade, economic development, climate change, and disaster rehabilitation.
Ambassador Koya reasserted Fiji’s commitment to deepen relations with the UAE economy, trade and investment and strategic issues of interest to both the nations. He expressed optimism that Fiji’s Mission based in Abu Dhabi, UAE will continue to strengthen the bilateral and multilateral cooperation with UAE and other development partners across the globe. As part of its role, the Mission provides Consular Services to the Fijian nationals residing in or visiting the Middle East.
As articulated in Fiji’s first Foreign Policy White Paper launched this year by the People’s Coalition Government, Fiji aims to strengthen our regional and international partnerships to navigate through multifaceted challenges.
Fiji’s unique position as a regional investment hub enables us to leverage new trade opportunities and promoting sustainable socio-economic growth through strengthened relations and partnership with important development partners such as UAE.
