Australia’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Women, Senator Marise Payne will be visiting Fiji this week.
This is the first official visit by Payne after being reappointed as the Minister for Foreign Affairs following the Australian elections.
During the visit, Minister Payne will meet with Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama.
She will also meet with Fiji’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Inia Seruiratu and other senior Ministers.
This recognizes the renewed commitment of the two nations to strengthen the ‘Fiji-Australia Vuvale Partnership – which was declared during the historic visit by Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison in January.
Australia is one of Fiji’s largest trade and investment partners.
The two nations work together closely as fellow members of multilateral and regional forums, such as the United Nations, World Trade Organization, Commonwealth and Pacific Islands Forum.
