The diplomatic ties between People’s Republic of China and Republic of Fiji will continue to scale to greater heights. This has been highlighted through the courtesy call paid by the His Excellency Qian Bo, People’s Republic of China Ambassador to Fiji to the Minister for Defence, National Security and Foreign Affairs, Hon. Inia Seruiratu at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Suva, yesterday.
Ambassador Qian congratulated Minister Seruiratu for his appointment as the Minister for Foreign Affairs and stated that the People’s Republic China is committed to deepen its strategic engagement and friendship with Fiji.
He said through strengthened collaborations there is potential to boost opportunities for trade and investment exchanges in areas of tourism, agriculture, fisheries, forestry, and cooperation in education, human resources, capacity building and skills training, health, infrastructure developments.
Minister Seruiratu expressed gratitude to the People’s Republic of China for its support in leading the positive development opportunities in a wide range of socioeconomic sectors and particularly those that generate positive results for the welfare and wellbeing of the communities in Fiji.
He stated that Fiji is committed to broaden collaborations with the People’s Republic of China as it will promote initiatives for the benefit of both the countries. It is envisaged that there will be exchange of high level visits along with opportunities for cultural and people to people cooperation.
Fiji and China have enjoyed cordial relations since the establishment of diplomatic collaborations in 1975.
