Ministry visits CWM Hospital

October 05, 2024
The Fiji Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Team visited the Colonial War Memorial Hospital (CWMH) in Suva yesterday, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative.
At CWMH, the Team donated essential items to support the basic care and needs of the 22 cancer patients currently treated in the Lancaster Ward. The initiative coincides with the Pinktober, a month dedicated to raising awareness on cancer prevention highlighting the vital importance of early detection.
Through such initiatives, the Ministry aims to make a positive impact by giving back to the community by reaching-out and supporting those in need.
The Ministry is grateful for the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the lives of the patients and their care programs as well as to the health care workers, who work tirelessly to provide the vital health care services.

In welcoming the MFA Team, the Sister-in-Charge of the Lancaster Ward, Ms. Ana Tovehi, expressed her heartfelt appreciation to the Ministry for being the first government ministry to visit them, this year.
Ms. Tovehi noted with enthusiasm that such thoughtful gestures uplift the spirits of both patients and healthcare workers. She added that they highly appreciate the much-needed care and support accorded to them by the members of the community.
In her message, she urged the public to take heed of the preventative measures and to seek regular check-ups for cancer at their nearest health facilities, emphasizing that by working together, we can create a cancer-free society.
In similar initiatives undertaken earlier by the Ministry, our Team has also visited the age care home in the central division where we also assisted senior citizens in the aged care facility in Wailekutu, Lami.
As part of its Corporate Social Responsbility, the Ministry will continue to contribute to humanitarian and charitable initiatives to assisting those in need, similar to the one witnessed yesterday.
