The adverse weather situation affecting Fiji, had caused the deferment of the visit to Fiji by the Australian Minister for International Development and the Pacific, Hon Pat Conroy. The visit was to have culminated in the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon Sitiveni Rabuka, on Ports Development and Services. During a brief telephone call earlier this morning, the Prime Minister conveys to the Hon Conroy his appreciation for his understanding, kind thoughts and Australia’s readiness to support Fiji at times of emergencies like this, and especially to those affected.
