Traditionally celebrated on January 1st, yesterday’s event commemorated a significant day that symbolised Cuba’s independence and national identity.
Cuba’s Ambassador to Fiji His Excellency José Manuel Galego Montano expressed his gratitude to those in attendance and reaffirmed his country’s commitment to further advancing collaboration with Fiji in areas of mutual interest.
Ms Temo also acknowledged Cuba’s support to Fiji over the years, notably through the provision of medical scholarships for local and regional students.
The Chief of Protocol also highlighted the strong and growing partnership between Fiji and Cuba, emphasising mutual respect, shared values and commitment to global justice and equality.
