Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Honorable Sitiveni Rabuka has extended warm congratulations to His Excellency, Mr Jaan Reinhold on the official presentation of his credentials as the non-resident Ambassador of Estonia to Fiji.
Ambassador Reinhold presented his Letter of Credence to His Excellency the President, Na Gone Turaga Bale Na Tui Cakau, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu at State House yesterday.
In welcoming the Ambassador, PM Rabuka congratulated him, stating that his wealth of experience will be invaluable in enhancing the diplomatic relationship between Fiji and Estonia.
During a meeting that focused on strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations, PM Rabuka noted that while Fiji and Estonia share a solid foundation, the full potential of their bilateral engagements is yet to be fully explored.
PM Rabuka highlighted areas of strategic convergence between the two nations, especially in addressing global challenges such as climate change and digital transformation.
He outlined Fiji’s ongoing digital transformation agenda, which aims to improve the delivery of government services, establish robust governance frameworks, and ensure long-term digital inclusivity for every Fijian.
For this, the PM added that Fiji looks forward to Estonia’s expertise and knowledge sharing and is keen to explore bilateral cooperation in cyber-security.
On the regional and multilateral front, Prime Minister Rabuka acknowledged Fiji and Estonia’s cooperation through the European Union, particularly in addressing climate change, ocean governance, and good governance practices.
The PM concluded by reaffirming Fiji’s commitment to strengthening its bilateral relationship with Estonia and exploring new avenues of cooperation, aimed at serving the interests of both nations and their peoples.
In his response, Ambassador Reinhold expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for the opportunity to meet and discuss areas of mutual interest and shared aspirations.
He expressed similar sentiments, adding that Estonia looks forward to further strengthening bilateral relations with Fiji.
