As Pacific Vuvale, Fiji and the Kingdom of Tonga remain committed to strengthening bilateral relations and regional cooperation. This was conveyed at a meeting recently held between the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs Dr Raijeli Taga and the Kingdom of Tonga’s Lord Privy Seal and Secretary Foreign Affairs, Mr. Viliami Malolo.
The meeting looked at ways to further strengthen the bilateral relations between Fiji and the Kingdom of Tonga and reaffirmed our shared commitment to Pacific solidarity.
Dr Taga welcomed Mr. Malolo and reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment to deepen the collaboration on issues of mutual interest to both the nations. She acknowledged the ongoing cooperation and the potential opportunities to further enhance engagements between the two nations.
Mr. Malolo thanked Dr Taga for the timely discussions that outlined the opportunities ahead for the two nations to further strengthen the cooperation.
The meeting highlighted prospects for enhancing trade and investment ties, along with the networking and collaboration with Fijian diaspora in Tonga and similarly Tongan diaspora in Fiji.
The meeting concluded on a positive note with both sides reaffirming their commitment to advance cooperation and shared commitment to regional peace, security and prosperity.
